The Wisconsin Insurance Department grants our founding jewelers a charter for their own insurance company, The Jewelers Mutual Limited Fire Insurance Company of Wisconsin. Our first offices were in the back room of the Nelson-Anderson Jewelry Store.
Our company officially changes its name to National Jewelers Mutual Limited Fire Insurance Company, reflecting our broader market.
Three national conventions of the American National Retail Jewelers Association endorse our three-year-old company.
Jewelers Mutual continues to expand
insurance protections beyond the peril of fire, including the introduction of tornado coverage.
Through careful management and loyal members, our company survives the stock market crash.
This jeweler’s bench and tools are examples of what our commercial policyholders would have used circa 1930.
We appoint our first agent, then purchase our first office – in that order. Today, Jewelers Mutual is represented by more than 200 independent agents and brokers in the U.S. and Canada, and employs nearly 200 people.
