About Jewelry Evaluations/Appraisals
Because Jewelers Mutual's Personal Jewelry Insurance is a repair or replacement policy, a jewelry insurance evaluation or appraisal is essential to provide you with adequate jewelry protection.
Please send a detailed appraisal (dated within the past 18 months). If you need to make a jewelry insurance claim due to jewelry theft or loss, we rely on the evaluation/appraisal to replace the item with same kind and quality.
Below are a few of the key items that should be included in your evaluation/appraisal:
Type of mounting and material.
Type and number of gemstones.
Cut, clarity, color and carat weight of diamond(s) and other gemstones.
Type, size, shape, and luster of pearls.
Manufacturers' names, serial numbers, and model numbers of watches.
Style, length, weight, and karat of gold chain.
The current retail replacement value along with any applicable sales tax.
Send us a copy of the evaluation/appraisal. Keep the original evaluation/appraisal with your policy and sales receipts.
