Jewelers Mutual Charitable Giving Fund
Purpose
Through philanthropy, Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company aspires to achieve a lasting and positive impact on the Fox River Valley. Jewelers Mutual strives to be a responsible corporate citizen and a valued employer by supporting critical needs of the community and its employees through financial gifts and support of volunteerism.
General guidelines
- Jewelers Mutual believes it can make the biggest community impact by providing larger gifts to a smaller number of organizations.
- While some smaller gifts ($250 or less) will continue to be awarded, priority will be given to those organizations we have consistently supported in the past.
- Nonprofit, 501c3 organizations that serve residents of the Fox River Valley are eligible.
- Gifts should impact a substantial number of people; on rare occasion, Jewelers Mutual will consider gifts to benefit a few if it makes a significant life difference.
- Prefer to support national organizations through gifts to their local chapters. National gifts will be considered on an exceptional basis only; i.e., hurricane relief.
- No gifts to political organizations or causes.
- Typically will not support school or church requests, unless it is a program that is open to and encouraging of participation from the general public.
- Will support capital campaigns and/or capital improvements; named gifts are encouraged.
- Jewelers Mutual is proud to be a United Way Pacesetter. When the company provides a contribution to the United Way, it is providing financial support to a number of non-profit organizations. While additional requests by these organizations will be considered, they will be given secondary consideration.
- Typically will not award grants to reimburse previously incurred expenses.
Priority areas for giving
- Organizations in which Jewelers Mutual employees are actively involved.
- Organizations that address needs in the following areas (listed in priority order): Basic needs (food, shelter, clothing), as well as programs that reduce/eliminate the root causes of poverty (eg; literacy, affordable housing, job training).
- Positive youth development and education.
- Health and wellness, particularly diabetes, cancer, mental health, and affordable access for the disadvantaged.
- The vitality of the Fox River area, including gifts to libraries, police or fire departments, parks, the arts, and preservation of the local environment.
Jewelers Mutual recognizes that the needs of its community are ever-changing, and will periodically assess these priorities to ensure that they align with these community needs.
