Band Together: Helping Others, One Vote at a Time
What does banding together mean to you?
To Jewelers Mutual, it means coming together as a company and community to give back. And this July, we had the opportunity to do just that with our Band Together campaign.
How the Campaign Worked
Focusing on health, home and hunger, four different organizations joined us in raising awareness for their respective cause: Feeding America®, Food Banks Canada, Habitat for Humanity® and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®.
Policyholders and the general public voted for their favorite cause to receive the top donation of $1 million. The cause with the second highest vote count received $700,000 and the third, $300,000.
Over three weeks, more than 40,000 votes came rolling in.
“Jewelers Mutual heard from longtime customers, but also from those who’d never heard of us before," said Scott Murphy, president and CEO of Jewelers Mutual. "And everyone was excited to band together and help us provide the biggest gift in our company’s history.”

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital received the most votes and the $1 million donation.
"What an incredible and humbling honor to be voted to receive $1 million from the Jewelers Mutual Band Together campaign and to be included with the remarkable work of Habitat for Humanity and Feeding America," said Richard Shadyac Jr., president and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Center.
Their donation will help find cures for life-threatening diseases and save children's lives. Patients and their families never receive a bill from St. Jude for their services.
2. Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity took second place, netting a $700,000 donation.
Those funds will help families across the nearly 1,400 communities they serve throughout the U.S. and Canada build or improve a place to live.
3. Feeding America / Food Banks Canada
Feeding America's Katie Jozwik (left), manager, new partnerships, Nancy Curby (right), senior VP of development, and Matt Knot, president, accept the $249,000 donation from Trina Woldt (center), VP, CMO of Jewelers Mutual.

Feeding America provides meals to those at risk of hunger – $1 provides 11 meals. Approximately 46 million people will be fed through food pantries and meal programs across the U.S.
Food Banks Canada will provide an additional 195,000 meals to those in need across Canada.
Thank you to everyone who helped Jewelers Mutual contribute to these wonderful organizations with history-making success.
Everyone was a winner. The organizations walked away with sizeable funds to help them continue their missions. Those who voted should feel proud of the part they played in helping make a difference for their favorite cause. (Three lucky voters even won a trio of handcrafted, personalized STACKED New York® bands.)
But the biggest winners are those in need of housing, food or a cure who will be helped by the additional resources given to the four nonprofits.
