This is Jewelers Mutual's "Jeweler's Survival Guide: Emergency Planning Checklist", a 2-page self-assessment with a Yes/Update/No rating for each item, covering the full lifecycle of an emergency plan:
Assessment stage: setting up a planning team and budget; reviewing internal plans (evacuation, fire protection, safety/health, security, insurance, employee manual); checking compliance with fire, electrical, and OSHA codes; reviewing critical services, operations, equipment, and personnel; and inventorying internal resources (fire wardens, CPR/first-aid training, emergency power, backup systems) and external resources (emergency management, fire/police, utilities, ISP, insurance agent).
Plan development: defining key personnel responsibilities, likely emergency types, and response management locations; core elements (direction/control, communications, life safety, property protection, community outreach, recovery); response procedures for assessing situations and protecting people/assets; and specific bomb-threat procedures (warnings, evacuation, shutdown, records protection, restoring operations).
Documentation and rollout: compiling support documents (call lists, employee lists, resource lists); addressing development needs like disabled/non-English-speaking staff and training schedules; distributing dated/versioned plan copies to employees.
Training and testing: training all personnel on roles, hazards, notification procedures, and evacuation/shelter steps; running orientation sessions and walk-through/evacuation drills.
Ongoing maintenance: conducting a formal annual audit, updating the plan based on drills/real events, and keeping facility records and contact info current.
