Popular Engagement Rings to Make Your Holiday Proposal Perfect

on Nov 13, 2015 9:12 AM

Along with a crisp chill of winter's impending arrival, love is also in the air. 'Tis the season to get engaged!

If you're thinking of a holiday proposal, the No. 1 item on your shopping list this season is an engagement ring. It will be one of the most cherished, and likely expensive, pieces of jewelry you'll own.

Like many people, you're likely searching for something modern and in style, yet unique and a good fit for your soon-to-be fiancee's personality. We hope this round up of popular engagement rings helps you find just that!

Trend #1: Fancy Cuts

Unusual cuts are popping up everywhere. From Lady Gaga's heart-shaped diamond engagement ring to Amal Alamuddin-Clooney's emerald-cut stunner, the usually popular round and princess cuts seem to be losing steam.

Make It Yours: How about embracing the fancy cut trend just a little differently? You could pair a more traditional round

center stone with a complimentary, but more unique side stone, like a horizontally-set marquise.

Or, go with something completely captivating like this marquise-cut pale yellow diamond set on two separate 14-karat yellow gold bands.

Trend #2: Colored Stones

They say diamonds are a girl's best friend, but what if sapphires are, too?

You can't go wrong emulating the most famous engagement ring in the world - Kate Middleton and Princess Diana'a 18-carat sapphire.

Make It Yours: This is another great opportunity to subtly incorporate a trend using side stones. Two pear-shaped sapphires would create a brilliant frame for a round brilliant diamond.

You could also stick with diamonds, yet choose them in a more unique yellow or champagne color.

Trend #3: Rose Gold

For an alternative to yellow gold, consider rose gold which has begun taking over its fair share of the bridal market.

Modern yet vintage-feeling, romantic yet subtle, rose gold is a great complement to a wider range of skin tones than either white or yellow gold can be.

Make It Yours: Another current fashion trend is mixing metals. If you can't decide between white gold, yellow gold, or rose gold, why not use all three?

Stacking bands are huge right now and nothing says they couldn't be your engagement ring!

Did you adopt a trend in a unique way? Did you or are you getting engaged over the holidays? We'd love to hear about it ... share your story in the comments!
