Jewelry Crime Report: Thefts Are Still a Significant Concern

At approximately 12:50 p.m., a suspect inquired about men’s watches and was shown one that he stated was "too flashy."

He was shown another watch, which he proceeded to try on, but fled the store after it was around his wrist.

The suspect was described as a white male in his early 20’s, 5’8” tall and has an athletic build. He was last seen wearing gym shorts and a green t-shirt with a baseball cap with a floral print.

Two suspects entered a jewelry store located within a shopping mall and smashed a showcase containing unspecified merchandise.

One suspect was apprehended by mall security and arrested, while the second suspect (pictured below) remains at large.

A lone suspect offered to sell a jeweler a diamond. The jeweler then performed a diamond test and at some point during the interaction, the suspect switched the real diamond with a fake one.

The jeweler gave the suspect a cash payment and he left the the store in a black BMW with Florida plates.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., a suspect cut the security cable attached to a plexiglass display box that contained two watches.

After cutting the cord, the suspect conversed with a sales associate about pearl items. The suspect then left the sales associate to take a phone call and walked towards the display box while he was on the phone. The sales associate became distracted tending to other matters and the suspect used this as an opportunity to remove the plexiglass box from the counter and exit the store.

The suspect was described as a 6 foot tall black male with a thin build and was last seen wearing a white hat with a dark colored shirt. If you have any information regarding the identity of this individual, please contact the Houston Police Department at 281-584-4700.

The suspect picture below stated his name was Mario and was interested in watches.

He distracted a sales associate by pointing at other watches in the case he was looking at and then palmed a watch in his hand and concealed it with his wallet. 

This suspect has also committed distraction crimes in Wauwatosa, WI on November 30, 2016 and has attempted to steal items in Cleveland, OH and Pittsburgh, PA as recently as December 12, 2016.
